Yes NoThe Opportunity:
We’re on the lookout for a highly experienced and forward-thinking Data Architect to become a vital
part of our expanding team. If you possess 7 to 10 years of hands-on experience in the full lifecycle
of data solutioning – from initial design and implementation to ongoing management and
optimization – we want to hear from you. In this crucial role, you’ll leverage your deep
understanding of data modelling, data governance strategies, cutting-edge big data technologies,
and versatile cloud platforms to shape the very foundation of our enterprise data strategy. You’ll be
instrumental in translating complex business needs into practical technical blueprints and will serve
as a key technical mentor and guide for our talented data engineering and analytics professionals.
What You’ll Do:
Orchestrate Our Data Landscape: You’ll develop and maintain a comprehensive
understanding of all our data assets – where they reside, how they flow, and the specific
requirements they need to meet. This involves becoming a true expert on our information
ecosystem.
Architect for Scale and Performance: You’ll be responsible for designing and implementing
robust and high-performing data models (spanning conceptual, logical, and physical levels).
Your work will encompass a variety of data platforms, from traditional relational databases
to modern data warehouses, flexible data lakes, and specialized NoSQL systems.
Champion Data Standards and Governance: You’ll play a key role in defining and upholding
our data architecture standards, policies, and procedures. This will ensure the ongoing
quality, consistency, and overall integrity of our data.
Strategic Technology Recommendations: You’ll have the opportunity to evaluate and
recommend the most suitable data technologies and tools to address our evolving business
needs, considering factors like performance, scalability, and cost-effectiveness.
Blueprint the Future of Data Management: You’ll develop detailed blueprints and technical
specifications for our core data management systems. This includes outlining strategies for
seamless data integration, efficient storage solutions, powerful processing pipelines, and
effective data governance practices.
Build the Data Highways: You’ll design and implement efficient data pipelines to facilitate
the smooth extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL/ELT) of data across our systems.
Ensure Data Security and Compliance: You’ll be a champion for data security and privacy,
ensuring our architectural designs adhere to relevant regulations like GDPR and HIPAA.
Collaborate and Communicate Effectively: You’ll work closely with business analysts to
understand their needs, data scientists to support their analytical endeavors, data engineers
to bring your designs to life, and application development teams to ensure data flows
seamlessly. You’ll also be adept at explaining complex technical ideas to both technical and
non-technical audiences.
Guide and Mentor: You’ll participate in project planning, providing valuable technical
guidance on all aspects of data architecture. You’ll also facilitate engaging discussions and
workshops to gather requirements and validate your architectural designs. Building strong
relationships with stakeholders across the organization to truly understand their data
challenges and needs will be crucial to your success.
Drive Data Quality and Lineage: You’ll contribute to the development and implementation
of our data governance framework, including defining data quality benchmarks, establishing
clear data dictionaries, and implementing robust metadata management practices. You’ll
collaborate with data owners and stewards to ensure the ongoing accuracy, completeness,
and reliability of our information assets, and you’ll be involved in efforts to track data
lineage and maintain thorough documentation.
Optimize for Peak Performance: You’ll design data solutions with a laser focus on achieving
optimal performance, ensuring scalability to handle our growing data volumes, and
maintaining high availability of our data systems. You’ll be proactive in identifying and
resolving any performance bottlenecks and will develop effective strategies for data
archiving, retention, and robust disaster recovery. Continuously monitoring and fine-tuning
database performance and resource utilization will be key responsibilities.
Explore and Recommend Emerging Technologies: You’ll stay ahead of the curve by
continuously learning about new and emerging data technologies and trends, critically
evaluating their potential to benefit our organization. You’ll have the opportunity to conduct
insightful proof-of-concepts and pilot projects to rigorously assess the feasibility and value of
incorporating these cutting-edge technologies into our data infrastructure, ultimately
providing well-informed recommendations on the adoption of new data platforms and tools.
Furthermore, you’ll play a vital role in mentoring and guiding less experienced team
members, sharing your expertise and promoting best practices in data architecture across
the team.
What You’ll Bring:
A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related
technical discipline.
7 to 10 years of progressive experience with a proven track record in data architecture,
database design, and data warehousing.
Deep expertise in a variety of data modeling techniques, including relational, dimensional,
and NoSQL approaches.
Demonstrated experience working with diverse database management systems (RDBMS)
such as Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, and modern cloud-based database services
like Amazon RDS, Azure SQL Database, and Google Cloud SQL.
Significant hands-on experience with data warehousing concepts, methodologies, and
leading tools like Snowflake, Amazon Redshift, and Google BigQuery.
Practical experience architecting and implementing data lake solutions using technologies
like Hadoop, Spark, Amazon S3, Azure Data Lake Storage, and Google Cloud Storage.
A strong understanding of ETL/ELT processes and proficiency with various tools such as
Informatica, Talend, Apache NiFi, AWS Glue, Azure Data Factory, and Google Cloud
Dataflow.
Familiarity and practical experience with NoSQL database technologies such as MongoDB,
Cassandra, and Couchbase.
Excellent SQL skills and a proven ability to perform query optimization.
A solid understanding of data governance principles and established practices.
Hands-on experience implementing and maintaining data security and compliance
measures.
